In the afternoon, Professor Andrew Harris of Laing O’Rourke offered an insight into the use of technological advancements to deliver innovative best practice solutions in the building and construction industry.

He discussed the changes coming to the building profession and to the practice of engineering as a whole – looking at advancements in robotics, big data, additive manufacturing (3D printing) and intelligent infrastructure.

One of the final sessions of this year’s conference was a presentation from esteemed architect Koichi Takada, who discussed the role of architects in naturalising cities, in the context of Australia and worldwide.
