The im电竞下载ios team are excited to introduce a dedicated landscape area as part of the 2015 event. In partnership with the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) and with the support of Outdoor im电竞下载ios Source we will deliver this exciting new showcase to demonstrate the strong fusion of nature and the built environment.

Along with the valuable content and plentiful product displays that im电竞下载ios currently delivers, industry professionals in landscape im电竞下载ios and architecture will be invited to observe a series of landscape projects, new technology and innovative materials dedicated to improving the outdoor realm.

Throughout the event, there will the opportunity to hear from industry leaders and connect with other professionals with AILA also delivering CPD accredited speaker sessions throughout the event (to be announced early March 2015). This timely showcase will demonstrate the diverse opportunities in landscape im电竞下载ios as urbanisation, climate change and a desire for humans to reconnect to nature prompts this outdoor focus.

It moves beyond “greening” to creating outdoor spaces that not only serve the climatic environment but its’ community and the people utilising the space.

While green is certainly reclaiming our landscape across the globe, the industry is moving away from traditional gardens and large span vegetation, leaning on professionals to create clever ways for outdoor areas to still exist in dense urban environments.

In cities, outdoor furniture is fused with greenery to create fluid pedestrian and cycle friendly spaces to encourage walking and healthy modes of transport. Hospitals and healthcare precincts have observed the abundant benefits in landscape im电竞下载ios and healing gardens to facilitate health and speed up patient recovery. Even residential dwellers have recognised their opportunity to contribute by greening their balconies, installing vertical gardens in backyards and even bee-hiving in some areas.

There have also been a series of renowned projects that have changed the way we think about landscape.

For example, New York’s High Line has prompted a series of international projects modelled on its’ elevated linear park im电竞下载ios including Sydney’s own, The Goods Line, a pedestrian and cycle network from Railway Square through Ultimo to Darling Harbour (pictured).

Landscape im电竞下载ios also has the opportunity to contribute to energy efficiency via its application on buildings as we’ve seen in the form of rooftop gardens, balcony greenery and multi-storey green walls. Not to mention its’ contribution to reducing the urban heat island effect.

Even sports precincts are providing valuable outdoor space with both the newly announced Sydney and Perth sports stadiums commissioning landscape professionals to create green and pedestrian friendly recreational areas outside the stadiums that engage the community.

These are just some of the ways Australian landscape professionals are exploring ways to create beautiful, sustainable outdoor spaces.
