When you're looking to create a building dedicated to affecting global change, it's what's on the outside that is almost as important as what is inside. So when the University of Queensland set about transforming their Global Change Institute, market leader EBSA was on hand to provide function facades that also offer a unique im电竞下载ios perspective.

EBSA im电竞下载iosed the operating mechanisms and sun tracking automation of the external vertical sunscreens and was engaged by their client to carry out the installation of the system due to the extremely tight tolerances such a product demanded.

In addition to providing the automation for the Thermal Chimney’s, EBSA was engaged by the client to carry out the installation of the entire chimney structure due to the technical difficulties posed by the building im电竞下载ios – including the inflating roof!

The G12 series louvres make up nearly the entire facade of the building (behind the vertical screens). EBSA worked directly with G.James Glass and Aluminium to deliver the fully automated louvres which are integrated into a bespoke timber composite mullion im电竞下载ios.

Whilst the vertical louvres are im电竞下载iosed primarily for sunscreening and operate automatically in accordance with the sun’s position, the G12 louvres work in conjunction with the Thermal Chimney providing an effective natural ventilation and smoke relief system.

A key component to the success of this project is the use of D+H Mechatronic window automation hardware and in particular the fail safe RZN series Smoke Control Panels which interface with both the BMS and Fire.

Unlike residential solutions applied to commercial applications, the use of purpose built commercial solutions from EBSA resolved many of the interface issues typical of other projects of this nature. EBSA were able to interface effectively with the BMS supplied by Johnson Controls and even provided remote monitoring of the sunscreen system.
